Today I am talking with Sally Estlin about what we eat and how this can affect your family’s health and wellbeing. It’s all about the gut-brain connection and the seductive attraction of processed foods like Nutri-Grain.

As a parent, you are in charge of your pantry! The quality of the food you provide your children will support or undermine their mental acuity, learning and long-term health. What you feed your young children shapes their food preferences and palate for life. If you feed them meals rich in processed carbohydrates, sugar and fat then this is what they will crave and prefer.

We are invincible in our teens and can eat fast food to our heart’s content, with few apparent ill-effects. But by the time you reach your 30’s, the health cost of a poor diet will show with weight gain, increased risk of diabetes, high blood pressure and heart issues.

It is worth the investment to feed your family rainbow meals rich in natural foods and to minimise the processed carbohydrates, sugars and poor fats marketed so well by the food industry.
